WHO HAD THE BETTER BOXING RECORD

Posted by DEMARCO CASTILLO on

It's almost been a week since the world has witnessed the super fight between Conor Mcgregor and Floyd "Money" Mayweather. The fight definitely lived up to everyone's expectations. Well, except for the people who bet their rent money on Mcgregor..lol

Both fighters came out on top regarding their pay checks and performance of the night.

In Conor's case, people are praising him for lasting ten rounds with arguably one of the best boxers in our generation. Some thought he would not last three minutes in the ring and other said that he would not land a punch on Floyd. "Honestly, I think Floyd gave him those rounds, to execute the game plan in shutting down Conot in the later rounds."

On the other side of the coin, the media and the fans are praising Mayweather for reaching

50-0-0

Beating Rocky Marciano's record of

49-0-0

When it comes to praising, I am specifically talking about the media and casual fans. Mayweather retired with zero draws and zero losses on his record. No argument there!!

However, there are a handful of fighters who actually beat Marciano's record way before Mayweather beat Conor. However, they did not retire soon enough to keep that zero in their boxing record.

Here is one Example,

Julio Cesar Chavez

88-0-0

Before he lost....

Chavez is considered not only one of the best fighters in history, but Mexico's most honored boxing champ. Before Chavez lost to Pernell Whitaker in 83, he had an "undefeated record of 88-0-0.  WOW!

FACT CHECK HERE: CHAVE'SRECORD

Chavez could have retired with an incredible record like that and Mayweather would still be working to top that number. However, like all great champs, Chavez believed that he could go on and continue fighting and winning.

Honestly, with a record like that, I would think I was superman or something...lol

After that draw in 1983, Chavez went on to win 20 more fights in his career before he retired in 2005
